Red Light, Green Light

mainec sent me this funky old-school style rap-video by Charizma & Peanut Butter Wolf. See it here!

Only 25 Days Left…

..to the release of Blanka’s debut album! I hope they can live up to the hype created by their EP, released last year. The CD will be 10 tracks long, filled with their characteristic neurotic, longing and desperate sound. This is what makes me wake up in the morning right now. :P I want it to be the 25th todaaaaaaaay.. :)
They’re playing live later today at the Faulfest #2 in Nacka, Stockholm, together with Britta Persson, who Svante’s been raving about. I’ll try to catch them. :)

Faulfest #2

Me and Tobbe just got home from Faulfest #2! First we listened to the very talented Britta Persson. Of all the flowers in the meadows of singer/songwriters, she really deserves to be grown in a flower bed. :) She actually brought the sun to the otherwise very gloomy and rainy festival area.
I Love You Baby! was next. A quite good electropop band, inspired from Kraftwerk, Patti Smith and Le Tigre. Bought their new 8-track EP released on Trewetha.
And then… Blanka!! They sure didn’t disappoint me! Most new tracks from the upcoming album was stunning! Although the sound was kind of bad, a speaker was broken or something, they just made my waiting for the new album harder. :)
Some mobile photos: An empty stage, The Merchandise and Blanka.

Anke Meets Emma

A lot of people coming here from google seem to be looking for the videoclip of Emma Bunton at the Anke Late Night show. You can watch it in streaming windows media at this link from the official SAT1 site.

Celebrate Another Friday Living

I got off early from work today… nothing to do as usual. :/ It gave me time thought to really listen to the FiDGEt album that I finally got on CD yesterday! I’ve been hooked ever since their “Dixon EP”, and I could probably say they’re one of my favourit bands ever. :) “Celebrate Another Day Living” is their debut album. They kind of have their own sound, crossing over metal, punk and rock. The singing is very powerful and emotional, Tom and philipine Darline mix boy/girl vocals. Love the sound, love the energy, I never get tired of them… so far at least. :)
Now let’s see how good Taking Lives is… Interesting mix of actors.. Angelina Jolie, Ethan Hawke and Kiefer Sutherland! Speaking of Kiefer.. Don’t miss the DVD release of 24 Season 3 on August 9th in the UK! Update: Ok, it wasn’t. :P Typical serial killer movie.. Nothing I’d recommend really.

A Reality Tour DVD

Finally! The details of the upcoming David Bowie live-DVD have been announced! It’s a 30-track single DVD scheduled for a world-wide release in late September, filmed over two nights in Dublin last year. The cover is designed by Rex Ray as usual.

Papertossing

This is a really cool “papertossing” game made in flash. 3600 points.. beat that? :)

Brosnan Unbonds

No more Pierce Brosnan playing Commander James Bond. :( I thought he was gonna do one more movie, but apparently that’s not the case anymore.

Pierce Brosnan is leaving the series behind, ending his career as the international superspy. “Bond is another lifetime, behind me.”” http://www.chud.com/news/july04/jul27bond.php3

He was definately my “favourite Bond”. I really hope he changes his mind when looking at the list of possible replacements.. Gerard Butler, Jude Law, Ewan McGregor, Hugh Jackman.. and Orlando Bloom.. Please.. I’m eating here. :P

2.nd Rec Sampler

For only 2 euros, you’ll get the new 2.nd Rec cd sampler. Artists such as Nitrada, Giardini di Miro and Noah23 invite you to a journey in electronica, from experimental post-rock to abstract hiphop. All under the roof of the Hamburg label.

Dead Like She

Whee! Grim Reaper Georgia is back for another season with Dead Like Me! I just watched the first episode, and it overwhelmed me! I’m so glad it’s back! :) (Here’s my previous post about it.) Just what I needed after my first day back at the office. I was told that “P” has left the company, it didn’t quite “work out”. :/ That’s too bad.. He was a nice guy.. Who am I gonna discuss music with now? Frankly, I don’t feel like it’s working out either.. I need a more stable work. Commission and lack of stuff to do is not the best combination if you want to get your own place to live.
Anyone got a job to offer me? :)

Garlic Fever

Tobbe took us out for dinner tonight at the Olsson Brothers Garlic & Shots restaurant. Everything has garlic in it. Garlic beer, garlic coffe.. even garlic icecream…and so on. They also have a restaurant in Soho, London. After that we went down to the Double O bar in the basement. We sat in the Transylvania Lounge section, listening to the ska, reggae, rocksteady, punk and rock’n roll that was played in the tropical heat down there. I have a new favourite bar. :)

Bill Dies Tonight?

It’s the last day of my vacation, so I thought it would be a good idea to watch some movies I haven’t had time to see yet. I decided to give Kill Bill another chance, the japanese edition in full colour. And right after that… Kill Bill vol. 2 which I haven’t seen yet. I’m not a big fan of Mr. Tarantino, except from his Jackie Brown, which I love. :) I’ll update with an opinion here later…

Vol. 1 is still asian crap in my opinion. It didn’t give me anything. Luckily, Vol 2 is better. Not as hysteric and overdriven. I really liked how the story turned out, and how the good parts of Vol 1 was further explained. A solid 3/5 as a whole, but I’ll probably just skip directly to Vol 2 next time.. I’m pretty sure I will watch it again.

It’s the 24th, and I’m not wasting any time to present my 10 most played songs this month. :) Even though the weather could be better, the list finally contains a lot of summer beats.

Racewillbegin!

Swedish electro new-wavers The Kid have released a virtual 7″ on racewillbegin.com! I remember reading about this virtual label a while back in Metro, but I never got the url. :P Anyway.. there they are with some great releases from Sophie Rimheden and The Go! Team, plus a lot more.. All for free under a Creative Commons license.

Rebel Never Gets Old

This is so typical. I’ve been wanting David Bowie’s “Rebel Never Gets Old” mash-up remix CD ever since it was announced. It’s only been available on limited vinyl and promo-CD’s, sold for fantasy sums, on ebay so far… and first now, when I’ve just returned from Germany, I find out there’s a special edition of the album “Reality” that includes the RNGO disc there. :( Guess I’ll have to wait until payday now to order it from Amazon.de… How do I convince myself that I can wait a week? :P

Meteosound Hitek

The second compilation from the Berlin label Meteosound is out! I really liked the first one which I primarily bought for it’s Barbara Morgenstern track.

Meteosound likes to present another unique collection featuring its favorite dub sounds of today. Hiphop and techno influenced, rootical and soulful electronics, downbeat and upskankin tracks.

The cd is compiled by the labelowner, DJ and producer Daniel Meteo, and features tracks from Thomas Fehlmann, The Orb and Bus among others.

You Come Through

PJ Harvey releases her new single “You Come Through” this week. The date seem to be uncertain. HMV.co.uk listed it for the 19th, but still doesn’t have it in stock. Anyway.. to the point. :P I don’t know about you, but I really like documentary style music videos. The ones with lot’s of details you won’t get tired of after just watching once. The video for YCT is just like that and directed by Maria Mochnacz, who’s directed most of Polly Jean’s videos. She doesn’t seem to have her own webpage, but this interview served as pretty good background info, and you can see more of her nice photography at Kloss Management!

Waiting For GD

I put up the photos from Berlin here. A temporary solution made with JAlbum until Pentry.se reinstalls the GD library for PHP. Then I can run the great Coppermine gallery instead.

Frankie Knuckles Way

Frankie Knuckles, the godfather of house, is getting a street named after him. He’s the first DJ ever to be honoured in that “way”. :P Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley has also proclaimed Wednesday 25th August 2004 as “Frankie Knuckles Day”. There will be a cermony that day taking place outside the legendary Warehouse club, where Frankie started playing more than 20 years ago. The cermony will include the renaming of Jefferson Street to “Frankie Knuckles Way”. Let’s celebrate by shaking it a little to the house smash hit of 2004, Shape Shifters “Lola’s Theme”!

WM Recorder

WM Recorder. Just tried this cool app, and it’s working perfectly. :)

WM Recorder 9.1 is the first and only software tool that allows for one-click recording of any Windows Mediaâ„¢ streaming Video or Audio content.

Hi to the people of the newly created Swedish blogmap! Nice work Jonas!
