Depeche Mode Remixed

More remixes… On October 25th, Mute will release what they call “The Ultimate Remix Album”. A 2-disc set spanning over 20 years of Depeche Mode remixes. Titled “Remixes 81-04″, the compilation will include a brand new remix of “Halo” by Goldfrapp, “Barrel Of A Gun” by Underworld, “Home” remixed by Air and a new mix of “Enjoy The Silence” by Linkin Park’s Mike Shinoda. I’ll probably just get the new “ETS” single though, which is to be released one week before the album. I’ve heard the old mixes to my death, and it seems the single will include most of the new stuff anyway. See the details over at the official site.

CSS Spacing Fixed

Aah, I finally got around fixing the CSS spacing on the site. Should look about the same in both IE and Mozilla now. Thanks to the people of the Webbloggare mailinglist for the help and input!

Laws Of Attraction

I’ve been a sucker for Julianne Moore ever since I saw Magnolia. Today Laws Of Attraction opened at Swedish theatres in which she plays a divorce attourney competing against another played by Pierce Brosnan, who this movie was especially written for. It’s a romantic comedy where they end up in a relationship, but can they avoid the same issues at home that lead people to provide them business at work?
Not being able to resist the charm of either Julianne or Pierce, I really enjoyed this movie. It’s good entertainment for about 90 minutes, but definately not the kind that stays with you though.

NYC Garbage

Why not buy some garbage from New York, packaged in a nice transparent plastic box? Justin Gignac, the artist behind the sculptures, sells them for 50$ including world wide shipping. I’m not sure I’d want something like that in my future apartment, but I really like the idea behind it. :)

Going To Rome?

Haha.. Fawlty Towers suddenly feels like a great hotel after reading the comments about this hostel in Rome. Here’s one of them:

“They stole all my clothes and money and kicked me out! Also threatened to hurt me if I came back with the cops.”

I’m almost curious to go there just to see how bad it really is. :P Maybe it’s some reverse psychology marketing.

Stockholm Recordfair

Picked up the flyer for Stockholm’s International Recordfair (Skivmässa) today. Saturday 28th of August, 11 – 16 in Brännkyrkahallen. “All kinds of music. Lp, ep, cd, dvd, singles and magazines. Sellers from all of Europe”. Take the red line subway to Midsommarkransen. Entrance fee 40 kr. Hope I’ll be able to go this time. :)

Norah Jones Remixed

Another one added to the shopping list. The Peter Malick Group feat. Norah Jones – New York City, The Remix Album. Some great loungy remixes by DJ Strobe on there! Will probably not disappoint any house lovers either.

Neko Case On Anti

Whoa! ANTI.com, where real artists create great recordings on their own terms, have signed Neko Case for 2 new albums! She’s been making a name for herself over the past few years in both indie-rock and country circles as a solo artist and as a member of the New Pornographers. First to be released is “The Tigers Have Spoken” (out in November). A live album recorded over 7 nights and at 3 different venues in Chicago and Toronto with a full band. I’m more excited about what’s next though… The follow-up to her mindblowing studio album “Blacklisted”, due out in the Spring of 2005! Yes, that is drool on my chin. :) Hopefully Joey Burns and Howe Gelb from Calexico will be involved this time too. A review of “Blacklisted” is available at dagensskiva.com (se).

Monday Cravings

I know craving is the origin to suffering, but I’ll try the Buddhist way in my next life.. Right now I sooo want..
1. The 24 Season 3 DVD-box, released today. 2. The Cinema Eye to post a clip from their coming album. They’ve been promising that since May. 3. The Aussie edition of Ron Sexsmith’s “Retriever”. Includes the bonus track “Madeleine Knows”.

Battle Torrent

The newsletter from Downhill Battle, a non-profit organization working to end the major label monopoly and build a better and fairer music industry, tells me about their latest project, Battle Torrent. I’ve never tried this torrent thing, but since I’m sympathetic to their cause I’m spreading the word about their just launched website sp2torrent.com. :)

It’s a site that links to BitTorrent files of the Windows XP Service Pack that Microsoft has announced. Microsoft is limiting their release of this update due to bandwidth concerns, and we’re taking this chance to show that p2p technology can get the file out to anyone who wants it, without massive server requirements. We’re not doing this to help Microsoft (believe me), but rather as a demonstration of why p2p is valuable.

Connection Down

Typical.. My Bostream connection is down again. Don’t know if it’s the dsl modem, which drops the connection every 10 seconds, or the telestations fault. What I’m sure of though is that I will be offline for at least a day. :/ A lot more if the modem is faulty. No excuses for not reading a book outside in the sun now.. :P Maybe I’ll give that “DaVinci Code” I got for my birthday a try.
Update 20:02:
Seems to be ok now. Weird. I don’t think the station is 100% well though.

Alice Martineau

As my internet connection was down most of the day, I sat out on the porch reading while listening to some old mix-cd’s that was lying around. Suddenly Alice Martineau’s “The Right Time” got on.. A great pop track which I’m guessing is produced by Marius De Vries because of the beautifully programmed electronic elements. It oozes the vibes of Madonna’s “Ray of Light” and William Orbit, which isn’t that surprising since Marius was involved in the making of that album too. :) The sad thing about Alice, apart from the rest of her album being kind of dull, is that she died from Cystic Fibrosis last year, 30 years old, not long after her album was released. This post is in her honour. “The Right Time” will at least live on with me.

Paloma Blanka

Oh happy day! :D Two tracks from Blanka’s upcoming “Paloma Blanka” album is available for download over at Diapazam! Only 18 days left now…

Nothing reeeeaches throoooooouugh…

Jane Birkin Arabesque

Don’t miss the Jane Birkin concert on SVT2 in 10 minutes. I know it’s late, but better late than never. :)

A recording from Odeon National Theatre in Paris 2002, where Jane Birkin reworks another set of songs by Serge Gainsbourg (1928-91). She’s accompanied by the Algerian arrangements of a North African band.

I guess it’s is the same concert as released on DVD earlier, which I’ve been wanting to see since then, so check that out if you can’t make it!

Ice Tea Free Diet

I think I need to put myself on an ice tea free diet. I suspect I have some light version of kidney stones. The reason to all this is probably all the Fun Light Ice Tea I’ve been drinking lately. You mix it with water like juice, and it’s sugar free. :) Tastes great, but try not to overdose it… maybe I’m just hypochondriac. :P

Charlotte Brings Summer

Charlotte Hatherley, guitarist of Ash (previously blogged about here), releases her new single “Summer” on Monday the 9th. Don’t miss the cool video for it. The single features 2 songs that will not be on the album “Grey Will Fade”, released the 16th. Order the single at HMV, and the album over at CD-Wow. You can’t go wrong. :)

Redvolume Style Titles

In my dummy design for the current look, I had the first word of every title in red. I’ve now written a WordPress Plugin to accomplish that. I’m just not sure if I like it.. Should I keep it? Feedback please. :)

American Dad

American Dad is the new show by Seth McFarlane, the man behind the brilliant Family Guy series (and an upcoming movie)! :) A 6 minute pilot episode is available for download! It’s not bad, but I can’t help wondering if it’s gonna be able to last more than one season?

SITD Off NAC

SITD’s 8 months long top 10 streak on the Nordic Alternative Chart has now come to an end. Their debut album “Stronghold” ended on position 6 in June, to be replaced by Miss Kittin’s “I Com” for July (Don’t miss her DJ mixes online!). Number one is now Skinny Puppy for the third time. I’m not sure I fully agree with the voting DJ’s. :P

Agile Mobile Messenger

Just installed Agile Messenger for my Motorola A920, and it’s working like a charm! The interface is so much better than in myBuddies which I was using before.

Agile Messenger is an Instant Messenger for your mobile telephone supporting ICQ, AIM, Yahoo!, MSN, QQ and Wireless Village

It’s got tons of nice features, including data usage counter, and supports most mobile platforms available today. The best feature though is the price… It’s free! :)
