The PJ Harvey video I wrote about earlier (“You Come Through”) will be released on September 20, as part of the DVD single for “Shame”. Her video for “The Letter” will also be included. The CD single features the b-side “97″. Yummy! She’s released one single every 2 months now from the album “Uh huh her”, this being the third. I wish more artists had that tempo.

After a really intense working week, I’ve started my Alias Season 3 marathon. As much as I found the ending of season 2 unpleasant, I loved the beginning of this new season, just released on DVD. :) They’ve made some improvements on the menus. Much better looking! I tried watching Jennifer Garner in “13 Going On 30” a while back, but I’m really having trouble seeing her in another role than Sydney Bristow. :)

Took the family to see Michael Moore’s “Fahrenheit 9/11” today. It sure didn’t make me feel good. Very scary. Everyone should see it though! I calmed myself down by browsing the 2005 IKEA catalog. Looking at all those well decorated rooms, you get the feeling there’s no evil in the world. Only beauty and comfort. :) I was actually looking for a record cabinet and a nice frame for my Magnolia poster, when I found the Kodal closet. It looks to me that keeping your clothes visible, in the open, is the new trend. Me wants!

Intro.de reports that a Nirvana 3 CD boxset will be released in November! The boxset, which was originally announced 3 years ago, will include previously unreleased rarities and b-sides, over 50 unreleased recordings including Kurt Cobain’s demos and a 60 page booklet. The first edition will also include a DVD, filmed at a houseparty gig in 1987. A wet dream for any Nirvana fan. :) I’m not sure I need 3 cd’s full of lo-fi recordings (?) though… but we’ll see.

Yay! They’ve finally updated their site with a track from their upcoming album! Sound Virus will bring it to you on November 2. Give it a listen if you like dark, synthish, new wave, post punk. Hard to describe. Even Mollie from the band is not really sure how to put it:
“The thing about the Cinema Eye is that while we definitely touch base with stuff that’s already been done, there’s a newness about it that I can’t really define. I mean, we’re not out to create some new genre of music, that’s definitely not happening, but its just got this… I don’t know, foreign quality. It just sounds different.” … “A keyboard band that isn’t a keyboard band.”

Make your mobile oldschool. Freakyphones.de made me smile in my feverish and aching state. Being sick sucks. Better go make myself a cup of tea before Dead Like Me starts on SVT1

Porcupine Tree have recorded 14 new songs for an album (untitled so far) to be released sometime in January. What’s left to do is basically just to select, sequence and master the final running order. There is also plans for a simultaneous release of a 5.1 surround mix… I usually prefer stereo recordings, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the surround mix beats stereo in PT’s case. Probably just the usual scam to make fans buy two copies. :P

I see the Battle Torrent project has now been renamed to “Blog Torrent”. The Downhill Battle lab is focusing on making sharing and downloading torrents as easy as blogging. Both the tracker and the web interface are written in PHP and use no MySQL, so installing the software will be as simple as transfering files to a web server. Integration with common blogs such WordPress and Movable Type is being worked on. The plan might be to be able to find all the latest torrents in your RSS-reader, but I can’t say I believe in a revolution. I’ll probably give this thing a chance when they get it running though.

I couldn’t find anything I didn’t like about Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I was very sceptic about seeing it at first, but I’m really glad I did. It proved to me that Jim Carrey can actually act. I’m definately not a fan of his comedy, so I hope he’ll be doing more of this stuff instead in the future. I’m also glad to see Charlie Kaufman shape up a nice script again after the, in my opinion, very crappy Adaptation. Two bonuses.. Kate Winslet with red hair and a nice cover version of “Everybody’s Gotta Learn Sometimes” sung by Beck. :9 So don’t miss this one!

I’ve been waiting for over a year now. Blanka’s full lenght album is finally in my hands. I simply love it! “Paloma Blanka” leaves me without words.. I can’t almost bear to say it.. I.. love.. you. I’m so sorry, but the review over at Le Manchester will probably serve you better. :)

I guess most of you have gmail accounts by now. If not, I have six five four invites to spend. Let me know if you need one.
While I’m on the subject, this guy has created a hack for using your Gmail account storage as a mountable Linux filesystem! Amazing.

They’re both icelandic, but I’ll always choose Emiliana Torrini over Björk. From Emiliana’s fansite, I found out that she’s working on a new album called “Fisherman’s Wife”. If everything goes as planned, the record will be out in January 2005, on the great Rough Trade label. :)

Just got home from the recordfair, and I’m quite pleased with my findings:
Baxter – I can’t see why (cdm), Leftfield – Release the pressure (cdm), Apocalyptica feat. Sandra Nasic – Path (cdm), Catatonia – Stone by stone (cdm), Emiliana Torrini – Baby blue (cdm). All for 135 sek. “Maybe cheapness is a sense?”, to quote from Seinfeld. :) The next skivmässa will take place in one month, but this time in Solnahallen.

My gums are infected somehow. Went to the drugstore to see if I could avoid an expensive visit to the dentist. They thought so. Someone sent me 250 monies. Don’t know why, don’t know who. I’m puzzled, but whoever sent it, thanks! They will come in handy for the recordfair this Saturday. And speaking of records… Got 3 copies of the new Hope Of The States single from HMV for some reason. 2 cd singles and one vinyl, all for the price of one. :) Installed Suse Linux 9.1. Need a good ftp client for it.

It’s as good as settled now, I’m moving in with my good friend Martin. But first when I’ve found a better job and can actually afford to split the rent. You wouldn’t believe how tired I am of this commision thing with nothing to do. Desperately seeking another job. All help is welcome. :) I made a little drawing of the apartment from my memory. The proportions are a bit off, but you’ll get the picture. :)

I haven’t seen the original Ladykillers, but this remake by the Coen brothers was pretty entertaining. Tom Hanks plays an eccentric, if not charming Southern professor out to rob a casino, all under the nose of his unsuspecting landlord: a sharp old woman. Check it out if you think you’d enjoy Oceans 11 (or any other casino heist movie) twisted up with the Coen kind of pace, gospel, Edgar Allan Poe, smooth talking, extreme cursing, Mississippi and a cute little cat.

“Butterflies And Hurricanes” is the next single from Muse. What’s special about this release is that it will feature a brand new concept in interactive audio mixing. An application called u-myx will make it possible to remix “Butterflies And Hurricanes” without needing any specialist music skills or equipment. The mixes can be saved as either a tiny 4 kb u-myx file, ideal for sharing, or be exported as full audio to CD or iPod. The format is the first ever to enable songs to be upgraded with new parts, such as vocal or instrumental contributions from other artists. If this is as cool as it sounds, it would really bring more value into buying singles/CDs.

Freeculture.org is an international student organization that is starting up campus involvement on issues related to copyright and culture, free and open-source software, music and filesharing. Working under the slogan “What if you could take music and culture back from corporations?” they’ve put together a five step guide on how to start up a Free Culture Chapter at your campus. Join the fight to not let short-sighted interests endanger the freedom to create! :)
