I’ve recently discovered how cool podcasts can be. :) Since most new cellphones have audio playback capability today, I could probably use mine to open up my WAP RSS-reader and download (stream?) the latest listening pleasure from Steffanie for example. It would be perfect for those boring bus rides into town! The only thing stopping me is the price.
A 20 minute mp3 encoded as mono, in 32 kbps 16 kHz is about 5 mb. That would end up as almost 9 euros on my phonebill at the end of the month. Since I’m a realist, I think we’re a long way from data flatrate in the 3G networks, but my suggestion to the operators is this… Why not create a service where users have free download, from let’s say a limited number of favourite feeds, for just a smaller monthly fee? Something like those subscription services currently available at Three. I’m pretty sure that it would attract a lot of bloggers to leave GSM behind. :)

bloggf1.3gp and bloggf2.3gp from Bloggforum 2004 at IDG in Stockholm. Thanks to Erik and Stefan for arranging this inspirational gathering! On my way home I couldn’t help associating it with the Sex Pistols concert in Michael Winterbottom’s 24h Party People. This is only the beginning. :)

Installed this “Spambot Stopper” plugin for WordPress. Let’s hope it will keep those poker-spammers away for a while.

Buy Nothing Christmas. With the message of “Buy Nothing Day”, adbusters.org want to inspire a whole shop-free season. Without the plastic gifts, how will you show you care? Do you dare to be a bad consumer this year?

Loveparade might return to Berlin in 2005! The preparations are in full motion according to DN! No date has yet been set, and there’s no news about it on the official site so far. Since the sponsors let them down this year, I’m guessing they don’t want to make a premature announcement. I’m keeping my thumbs crossed! :)

I’m generally not much for poetry, but.. A visit from Hans Appelqvist at this years Poetry Festival in Stockholm suddenly makes it a bit more interesting! Sophie Rimheden will also perform her sampled electronic poetry… And if you’re still curious about 2004′s winner of the Nobel literature prize, Elfriede Jelinek, you can watch scenes from her “Prinsessdramer”. All this and more November 29th at Dramatens lilla scen.

Strindberg and Helium. Weird flash animations with August Strindberg and some sort of helium balloon. :) Dialogue containing lines from “Inferno”.

Just spreading the word about German Films Go North. Thanks to Steffanie for the tip! 6 movies will be screened at Bio Sture in Stockholm 12 – 14 November. I can really recommend “Lugna Ner Dig” (Liegen Lernen), which was pretty funny. The book by Frank Goosen is much better though, but it’s a nice adaptation. :)

I love remixes. Lately especially the ones made by Jacques Lu Cont (real name Stuart Price), the guy behind Les Rythmes Digitales. Born in France, but raised in England might be one reason for his characteristic sound. Melodic, breezy and synthish with a touch of the 80′s. Most of his remixes are under the alias “Thin White Duke”, a tribute to the original Thin White Duke, David Bowie. :) I’m gonna use this post to list the ones I know about. Feel free to contribute by commenting! I’ll start with my favourites:
Madonna – Hollywood (Jacques Lu Cont’s Thin White Duck Mix)
Warner Music, 2003
The Faint – The Conductor (Thin White Duke Mix)
Astralwerks, 2003
Britney Spears – Breathe On Me (Jacques Lu Cont Mix)
BMG, 2004

tilliander.3gp. A perfect day sight and sound wise. Me and Tobbe went to see Andreas Tilliander play live at Pet Sounds. Gorgeous filtered synth sounds, kicking bassdrums and wicked basslines. Tech-house at it’s best in other words. :) After that we saw Collateral. Very slick and well-crafted, as always from Michael Mann.

Yummy! This is great news! Dark Horizons report that Thomas Harris is currently working on the 4th book about Dr. Hannibal Lecter! Set in the 1940s in Europe, the prequel will reveal Hannibal’s childhood in Lithuania. Producer Dino De Laurentiis is already planning to bring the story to the cinema in 2006! :)

Tomorrow is your chance to see Andreas Tilliander, one of Europe’s most active electronica producers and a legend of the clicks’n’cuts genre. He’ll play live at the Pet Sounds store in Stockholm at 18.00 (Sarah McLachlan on Tuesday). Tomorrow’s also the release date for his new album, “World Industries” (pushed back a week according to Ginza), and the reviews promise an electro-pop sensation. Can’t wait! :)

“Amazing” is how Moby describes the new Eminem video “Mosh” in his online journal. It sure is good looking, but it’s even nicer to see opponents of George W Bush unite and forget whatever differences they’ve had in the past… even though maybe just for the moment. Read more about their “beef” at ananova.com.

Got a Hopen drawer today from Mom! Buying it… and mounting it, which wasn’t quite as easy. I’ll finish the rest in the morning. :P Also love my new USB Bluetooth. :)
Update: Finished!

My messy room and flatmate Martin after the successful move. :) 3GP format.

Helped Martin empty his room so I can move in tomorrow. This is his new one seen from the hallway. Here’s the view from my window, and this is the ghetto view from the balcony. :) Also installed a Wap Gmail interface at www.redvolume.com/gmail. Feel free to use it.

A sad day. My favourite talkshow, Anke Late Night at german SAT1, was broadcast for the last time yesterday (Streaming today at the homepage). :( Led by Anke Engelke, the only female late night talkshow host in the world, the SAT1 executives wasn’t very happy with the response from the target group.. or something like that, so they decided to shut it down. If you want to catch a climpse of it, I uploaded a little sketch about Britney Spear’s wedding night (In english). Watch it here (Windows media).

“Haaaaappiness.. is a new phone lalala”.. at least in the material world. :) Bought a Sony Ericsson Z1010 today. Tre is selling them for 995 sek now if you buy it with a pre-paid simcard. Perfect! As a mobile geek I have this habit of getting a new one every year. :) I’m gonna disable the Live Mobile Cam for a while until I figure out another upload solution for this phone. My old A920 could do about anything with the Symbian OS and Opera browser. Guess I could give that away to someone now since I don’t even need the pre-paid sim.
