“You don’t have a chance – take it” was the tagline for Pusher. One of the best films ever, made by Danish director
A very sad day if this is more than just a rumour. If true, there will be no third season of the “Dead Like Me” tv series. :( It’s a shame if such a unique show as this is cancelled so early. I’d rather see them quit while they’re ahead though, than let the show become watered down. The ending of season 2 was very worthy at least.
Velcra’s christmas treat for all fans of industrial metal is a full streaming track from their upcoming album! I wish it was January already!
Blackfield’s self titled download single is released today! 99p per track or 1.50£ if you buy all 3 via SMS (UK only). The live acoustic version was the only one with more value to it. Different edits don’t mean that much to me when the overall “sound” is the same… and since they’re not coming to Sweden on their tour, that’s as close as I get. I really hope Steven Wilson will come here on the next Porcupine Tree tour at least. Their new album is due out in January 2005. (The other member of Blackfield is the Israeli singer/songwriter Aviv Geffen).
Haha, Bad Santa is just the perfect christmas movie for those of you who like cursing, liquor and sex. Billy Bob Thornton in the role of his life as a drunk, criminal, sex maniac santa. Hilarious! Funniest movie in a long time. See the trailer here.
Ok, I know I said I don’t believe in Xmas gifts, but I definately wouldn’t say no to an international subscription of the great German music magazine Intro. A CD or DVD of your choice is included with their special Xmas offer. :)
“ReLive is a music service acting as a link between music lovers and live music.” I guess this is kind of what I requested in my post about podcasting. Streaming club music directly in your 3G phone. 10 sek for 24 hours, or 39 for a month at Tre. Listening to DK7, the project of Jesper Dahlbäck and Irish born singer songwriter Mark O’Sullivan, I must say I’m impressed. :) Only bad thing I can think of at the moment must be the battery drainage.
Without looking at the price, I bought the most expensive beer ever. 5 euros for one bottle of Nils Oscar “Christmas beer”! It better be good. :P
It took less than a week for spammers to get through the Spam Stopgap plugin I installed. Say hello to it’s big brother Extreme. :) Elliot Back has added a dynamic client-side solution, forcing anyone wanting to submit a comment to execute a javascript. I’m not very fond of having to use javascript, but I guess it’s the mean necessary.
I’ve made no secret of that In Strict Confidence’s “Holy” will end up on my top 10 albums list for 2004 (here and here). David Bowie isn’t very secretive about two of his favourites either. He wrote this about The Arcade Fire in his journal:
“Quite the most beautiful, moving and passionate piece of brilliant song-writing and quirky performance I’ve heard in YONKS !!!”
Secret Machines is supposed to come very close. Can’t say I feel for any of them. I’ll rather stick to the man himself. :) Anyway, just as last time, you’ll find my list here on New Year’s Day.
musicnerds.3gp at the recordfair in Solnahallen. Nostalgia, old friends and exciting new stuff. Bleaker than usual though.
Paynova offer their customers 3 coupons for 50 SEK each at CD-Wow.se! Got me the latest from these 3 ladies… Stina Nordenstam, Kylie and Norah Jones.
They’re the new soundtrack of my winter darkness. I’m glad I discovered The Birthday Massacre on this month’s Orkus sampler. Post-retro electronic gothic popish rock with great euphoric melodies. A nice and unique sound when everyone else want to sound like Evanescence (read Within Temptation). They sure know how to market themselves online. I hate it when you can’t listen to bands on their websites. No problem here, their website is even available in Swedish, and most other European languages. :) Don’t miss “Happy Birthday”.
Here it is! The snippet mixtape of my favourite songs this month (Windows media).

Finally some good news today! One of my favourite albums of 2004 is “Holy” by In Strict Confidence. They make very slick (somewhat popish), gothic electronica and have a new EP out soon. The title, “Seven Lives”, is a track from the album. Not only will it be about 80 minutes in lenght, but also a 6-side digipack with rounded corners. Apparently the first cd-cover in this style in Europe. Released December 13th on Minuswelt. Hope it won’t be too expensive. I’m very curious about the new songs and cover. :) There’s almost no cd’s left to look forward to this year. Or am I wrong?
At Jonas’ request in the Webbloggare mailinglist, here’s the people I want to see blogging right now:
Famous people are probably not automatically interesting, but I think these 4 would be very entertaining. Well, “entertaining” in Wittgenstein’s case. :)
I finally framed and put up my old Shiva poster. I’ve always liked the hindu kind of spirituality. Feels good to have it back on a wall. :)
Naagendra haaraaya thriloochanaaya bhasmaangadhaaraaya maheshwaraaya
Nityaaya shudhdhaaya digambaraaya tasmai nakaaraaya namahshivaaya
The puja says: “Salutations to Shiva who wears a serpent as garland, who is three-eyed, whose bare body is covered with ashes, who is forever pure and the very embodiment of sacrifice.”
I was scared half to death this morning when my soundcard appeared to be dead. Winamp complained about damaged sound drivers, but a reinstall didn’t help. Then I noticed my MSI Mega PC display was showing all these random characters. Everything was solved by removing the power cable for a while, but I’m a little worried something’s not as it should be in there. I’m a complete beginner when it comes to hardware. Is it naive to blame bad electricity? :P
Oh.. I’ve been missing out! Steven Wilson of Porcupine Tree has released single number 2 in his “Cover Version” series! It features 2 tracks based on relatively simple arrangements for acoustic guitar, piano and voice.
