Just applied for a new bank account over at Skandiabanken since they offer free international transactions via internet. Now I can finally shop at German Ebay without worrying about the hassle and the extreme fee’s from Nordea. It’s too bad Paypal isn’t used much down there.

Tomorrow is the re-release of Lacuna Coil‘s “Comalies” album. It’s a limited 2CD deluxe edition with a bonus-CD containing acoustic and live versions. (It will become the 600th entry of my record collection :).
“While Lacuna Coil are already working on their yet untitled follow-up for the successful album “Comalies”, a European re-release of their two EPs “Lacuna Coil” and “Halflife” – which are currently out of print and thus demanded – including new artwork and bonus-material – is in the making for this summer.”
Century Media sure commits. LC will also be on the “Miss Behaviour” compilation. The top female fronted metal bands on a CD + bonus DVD. Released tomorrow as well.

I spiced up the design a bit for my friend Carl Aberatio‘s site. Some fine tuning left, but fully browsable. Don’t miss his review of The Stooges second album, “Fun House”, over at dagensskiva.com (Swedish)!

Even though the Resident Evil: Apocalypse Poster Contest is open for US residents only, I couldn’t hold myself from putting together a piece. Click here to see it. I’m not that pleased with the result, but I’ll see if anyone can compete with it for me… always worth a shot. :)
Update:
From Sanna’s comments, I tried making another version. See it here.
The fuzzy background symbolizes the chaotic zombie riot which I’m guessing will take place in the movie. :)

Ok.. so what now? I got some involuntary vacation from work since there’s almost nothing to do at the moment… and since I’m hired on commision, that means no money. :( I need another job. Anyone wanna hire me?

Yummy :9.. The new issue of Orkus Magazine comes with a 16 pages full color appendix called “Dark Divas” which features:
Cristina Scabbia (Lacuna Coil), Tarja Turunen (Nightwish), Sharon den Adel (Within Temptation), Lisa Schaphaus (Xandria), Sonja Kraushofer (L’ame Immortelle, Persephone), Helen Vogt (Flowing Tears) and Liv Kristine (Leaves’ Eyes)…
*Looking for a magazine importer* :)
Någon som kan tipsa om en bra svensk sådan? I Stockholm eller online…

Ooh.. Agnes.of.the.Islands displays Oststrand in her blog (Swedish). Mustn’t forget to go there next time I’m in Berlin, which I hope will be very very soon. I miss it so much. I can’t afford any travelling until this autumn when my monthly salary is more stable. :(
What’s even more frustrating is that right in my vacation is the Berlin Love Week, the alternative for this years cancelled Loveparade. A demonstration at the same location as Loveparade will take place though, Fight The Power.
“A week with ten days – instead of seven – filled with parties, club events but also open airs, professional meetings for DJs and musicians, and in between you’ll find yourself dancing barefoot at artificial beaches around river Spree.”
I guess that includes the Oststrand area. Two flies in one stroke, and I can’t go. :(

Soman + singer Lahannya = true? I wanna hear more nooow! Soman impressed me last year with their debut album “Sound Pressure”. Distorted beats and flipped out basslines. “Industrial 4 clubs” is what they call it.

Charlotte Hatherley, the guitarist of Ash, just released her first solo single “Kim Wilde”. Download it for free, with artwork included, from her website! Great popish rock! Reminds me a lot of Catatonia and Juliana Hatfield. A proper single release and the album “Grey Will Fade” will follow in the summer.

Sonos is a multi-room digital music system that allows you to listen to your digital music, all over your home, using built-in amplifier, mesh networking, and a wireless color LCD control.
“Just a Sonos ZonePlayer and speakers in the rooms of your choice and a Sonos Controller in hand to access all your digital music, no matter where it’s stored.”
I wouldn’t say no to one of those. :) Wonder if they are to be distributed in Sweden too?

Mmm.. Watching Cold Mountain really got me in a mood. :) I’ve become really romantic about the american south lately (I’m not very fond of the USA otherwise though). Listening to Calexico almost makes me wanna sit on some front porch out in the desert, drinking Jim Beams out of the bottle.. hehe. Anyway..back to the movie, which was very good looking and had some nice acting by one of my favourite actresses, Nicole Kidman. What impressed me the most though was the music.
“..and is further enhanced by another T-Bone Burnett-produced soundtrack of Appalachian-inflected folk traditionals, sympathetic originals by diverse songwriters…”

Jack White from White Stripes, which I’m not really a fan of (except “Seven Nation Army”), sang a few songs in the movie. MickeS pointed out to me that he also produced the new album of Loretta Lynn. Jack really did a good job putting his sound to it. :)

I finally took the opportunity to order Larry David’s movie, Sour Grapes, from dvdsoon.com. Only 11 CAD incl shipping. :) I’m very eager to see it. Too bad I didn’t order it earlier. Now I probably won’t get it before the weekend. :/

Cool! I guess we will see a lot of Berlin in the forthcoming Mission: Impossible 3 movie.
Authorities in Berlin have reconsidered their decision not to allow Tom Cruise to film part of Mission: Impossible 3 at the historic Reichstag building.
from: BBC
Tom sure has good taste. :) I really enjoyed watching the first two M:I movies, and I’m pretty sure this one won’t be an exception.

Hope Of The States!!
“The new Radiohead? Not quite, but Hope Of The States have gone one better than Muse, Elbow and Coldplay by producing an album of epic majesty AND songs that matches ?OK Computer? and makes “Kid A” look like the over-indulgent meanderings of six form poetry students.”

Hate the hype, love this! 66 Sleepers To Summer… I’m speechless!

Damn, I miss Dub Sweden! They better release something new soon. Dusted off my copy of their debut album “Welcome To Our World” today. It’s been the summer album for 2 years now. :) Dubby, poppy, reggaeish electronica. Get it noooow if you haven’t already!

My all time favourite comedian, Larry David, saved a man from possible death penalty. ESPN.com reports that the accused, Juan Catalan, found his alibi in unused video footage of LD’s Curb Your Enthusiasm show.
The show was hardly about the ballpark crowd that night. It focused on David hiring a prostitute, not for sex but to be a passenger in his car so he could travel in the carpool lane and escape traffic on his way to the stadium.

Great episode. :) Season 2 of the series is released on DVD June 15th! Can’t wait!
..and oh, mustn’t forget to try making the espressoshake that Yukio raves about!

Where’s that June feeling? I feel nothing. Still feels like mid-spring. No summer music (only dark stuff), no heat (thank god for that.. I still want to be able to sleep) and no ice cream. I’ve decided friday will be the beginning of summer. Then I’ll get pizza for lunch and and this year’s first ice cream, thanks to my advance paycheck. Life is slowly returning. :) Saturday is barbecue time with my cousin and the superpojkarna.nu gang. He brought home 72 cases of beer from Germany last week. :9 And next week is boss’ birthday. Don’t know if I’m gonna go since he lives so remote. Maybe if I can get a lift.
Musically it’s autumn, with new stuff from Hocico, PJ Harvey and Kasey Chambers.

Here are some photos from my weekend trip to the dvdforum.se staff party in Gothenburg. We also went to see The Day After Tomorrow, which have some nice special effects. As expected, the story isn’t that good, so go see it for the eye candy if you must. :)
28 May 2004
Phew.. Just got home stressed to the limit (well, some limit). :P Went early from work to catch the 70% cd closing sale my local Rocks records is having. Luckily I’m getting an advance pay from work so I could afford some. :) Most of the good ones were sold already so I focused on getting some country I never really wanted to pay full price for.
Allison Moorer – Miss Fortune and Shelby Lynne – Love Shelby
Got those from a tip by MickeS. They better be good… for his sake. :P
Mary Gauthier – Filth And Fire
I’ve been wanting that since it was released. Just never found it for the right price before. :) Too bad I missed her when she performed at Debaser here in Stockholm.
Victoria Williams – Water To Drink
Thought of Lucinda Williams when I bought it, but it should be good enough for the price anyway. Total: 167 SEK.
Now off to speedpack for Gothenburg… Back on sunday!
27 May 2004
It’s all set. I’m going to Gothenburg tomorrow. Train leaves at 19:10. Down there is the staff meeting/party for dvdforum.se. I have just recently resigned as a moderator, but I was invited to take part of it anyway. Guess it will be fun to meet the others, but most of all to see Walle and Sethp (to whom I passed on my mission). :) I’ve been told we’re all gonna see The Day After Tomorrow. Let’s just hope it’s better than I can imagine. I’ll try to update the mobile cam as often as I can, but that’s no promise. :P
