Hilarious piece of motion graphic! Violence, blood, sex and just about every famous album cover!
The amazing Digitonal has just begun selling a sampler CD featuring selected album and ep tracks, plus a new exclusive tune online. 12 tracks from between 2002 and 2006, combining classical instruments and electronic music, is yours for a bargain.
Amazon wanted me to pre-order the new Be Good Tanyas album, “Hello Love”, which I had totally forgotten. Thanks for the heads up, but I think I’ll stick to Nettwerk’s pre-sale instead. 10$ including shipping, almost too good to be true…
Oh, how I miss Hint Hint… Every time their awesome “Sex Is Everything” EP comes up random in iTunes, I check their site, but no news. Only some old, unfinished and unreleased recordings, which might mean they split up. There’s a Myspace page at least, where you can get some of the goodies. Any hints or clues?
Netlabel Virus B-23 is about to unleash their first two dubstep releases on 16th October. In this genre where exclusivity rules, most tunes never make it further than the dubplates of top DJ’s, which is why it’s great to see more and more upcoming producers taking advantage of the digital platform. First out on VB23 is Markomen with “Psychederelict Dubs Vol 1″, a 4 track EP, featuring fresh sounding and dark drifting dubstep with sparks of subtle acid, reminding me a lot of Adrian Sherwood. “Strawhead Riddim” is a killer track and well deserves it’s place on any media!
Top grime DJ, Logan Sama, has compiled a CD featuring various clashes from his Kiss FM radio show, and is giving it away for free. All the exclusives are almost entirely unedited, except for Logan’s own comments, and unmixed. Don’t miss Wiley’s diss of Scorcher over Various Production’s “Hater”.

Charlotte Gainsbourg – The Songs That We Sing
Andy Stott – Blocked
Milanese & Virus Syndicate – Dead Man Walking
Geiom – Berkane Sol
Charlotte Martin – Little Universe
Cham – Ghetto Story
Emalkay – Overflow
Pinch me, am I dreaming? “Children of men” definately looks and sounds like the movie of the year to me! Dubstep music and Julianne Moore in a sci-fi movie? Almost too good to be true, but apparently requested by director Alfonso Cuarón who was intrested in this new sound. Great tracks, although in the background, and a great director.. can’t go wrong?
On September 30th, the Friendly Fire release tour hits Stockhom at Kafe 44, which is all about the Vex’d boys from London. Dark electronic dub and industrial rhythms like that will be the perfect autumn starter. Gear up with their album, “Degenerate”, currently on sale at Dotshop.
..the sea will take. That’s the title of astonishing aussie singer/songwriter Sarah Blasko’s upcoming second album. Release date is set to October 21, but the first radio single and video, “Explain”, is available now at her Myspace page. Top score in my book for those singing animals. ;)
The Substance party in Brussels last friday was simply amazing! Photos and recordings of Walsh’s and N-Type’s sets can be downloaded here. The harmonica jamming over dubstep was definately a unique experience. No wonder my t-shirt smelled when I got home. Can’t thank the FWF crew enough for their hospitality…
The Independent’s got a nice piece about the history of the world’s most important record store, Rough Trade, celebrating it’s 30th year anniversary soon.
I wish I could stop by Guggenheim Berlin once again. Their latest exhibition, “Head On” by Cai Guo-Qiang, features an enormous installation of 99 life-sized wolves in a continuous stream towards a glass wall, which the first ones crash into! Wow!
Next issue of Slices, the free dvd magazine, will be the first in a special series called “Pioneers of electronic music”. Volume 1 is a documentary film based on electronic producer, performer and industry icon, Richie Hawtin. Friends, family, colleagues and Mr Hawtin himself tell their stories about his two-decade career. Should be out in stores on October 26th.
Another series, the DJ’s Anonymous podcast, features a mix by Shir Khan, who’s also a member of Tolcha, recently interviewed by Voco Me. Don’t miss his amazingly diverse selection.
Hope Of The States have confirmed after days of speculation that they have split up. Sad news, but as they say they have a lot to be proud of. Two great albums and not to mention awesome b-sides…
“Consumption of new technology has again divided the world into zones; Filtro takes advantage of this phenomenon and uses it as a pretext to release Region 4; a new compilation which generates a dialogue between Jamaican dancehall music, reggaeton, dubstep, its applications dance music trends suchs as UK’s Grime as well as the own minimal and idm sounds from our label’s musicians.”
Interesting thoughts from this netlabel. Not so sure about the results though…

“you know its not allowed to film at panorama bar & berghain?”
“5:55″. Charlotte Gainsbourg has created an album in collaboration with Jarvis Cocker, Air and The Divine Comedys Neil Hannon. It’s out next week.. why didn’t I know about this earlier? When I listen to the first single on her MySpace page, it hits me.. I must’ve repressed it to avoid the pain of waiting too long.
